What Are the Materials of the Metal Pin Badge

Today we will introduce the material of the pin badge. There are many materials of the pin badge. But they all have different kinds. Today, I will briefly introduce the material of the pin badge and how to choose the most suitable material for your pin badge.

First, copper

There are four kinds of copper (red copper, brass, bronze, white copper)

Copper is relatively tough, soft, and has ductility. Copper is a lustrous property. Its conductivity and thermal conductivity are very high, second only to silver, but the price of copper is much cheaper than silver. Copper is also precious metal, which has suitable strength, easy processing and beautiful color.

Red copper - used for finished products that need to be plated with red copper or ancient red copper, or for making enamel badges.

Brass - considering that its cost is higher than bronze, but in terms of technology, bronze is basically the same as brass, so the utilization rate of brass is very small now. It can only be used in some cases, such as the customer's requirement that brass should not be electroplated, because the color of brass is the closest to that of gold.

Bronze - widely used. The copper is the cheapest. Its ductility and toughness can well meet the requirements of metal badge production.

White copper - in very few cases, the product needs to be electroplated with silver or ancient silver, but the customer is concerned that the product is easy to change color. At that time, the white copper material will be used for priming. However, the hardness of this kind of copper is very large and the production difficulty is relatively large.

Second, Zinc alloy

Zinc alloy is composed of zinc and other elements. Aluminum, magnesium, lead, titanium and other low-temperature zinc alloys are often added. According to the processing technology, zinc alloy can be divided into deformation zinc alloy and casting zinc alloy. Zinc alloy has good casting performance, and can be used to diecast  precision parts with complex shape and thin wall. The castings are relatively smooth. Its surface can be electroplated, sandblasted and polished.

The cost of zinc alloy is much cheaper than that of copper, and the technology of zinc alloy applied to badges is becoming more and more skilled. Now, except enamel products, police badges or government commemorative badges, other basic copper badges are almost replaced by zinc alloy. Zinc alloy is cheap and can show 3D effect better. At the same time, its weight is lighter and the freight cost is saved. But if the customer is more concerned about the handle weight, they may have to think about it carefully.

In addition to the two most commonly used materials, badges can also be made of iron, aluminum or stainless iron. But they all have their own limitations.

Iron - low price, suitable for large quantity. But the surface impurity is more, and the quality is not so high.

Aluminum - can only be anodized, and form the color, good metal texture can not be seen. Or it was not electroplated. And the product is very light, the feel is not so good.

Stainless iron - can not be electroplated, basically only suitable for plate biting and printing.
